The Dynorbital Supreme sander is the model of choice for continuous use or heavy applications. If you are using the sander for a couple hours a day, the dynabrade Dynorbital Spirit sander may be a better choice to save a couple dollars. But, if you are using almost continuously throughout the day in a manufacturing environment or sanding in difficult environments (corian dust, automotive painting), then you should see significantly extended life by upgrading to the dynabrade dynorbital supreme models:
These 3-1/2" Dynorbital supreme sanders are most effective for small workpieces, small areas, or for following inside (concave) surfaces such as corian bowl seams
The 5" Dynorbital Supreme is, in our experence, the real workhorse sander in the cabinet shop:
If you are working on larger surface areas, the 6" Dynabrade Dynorbital Sander will give you 50% more sanding surface than a 5" sander.
The following Dynabrade Dynorbital spirit sander models will save about $20 per sander. They are lighter, so if you are constantly sanding veritcal surfaces, they might be a little more comfortable. However, they are not quite as heavy duty as the Supreme Model of Dynabrade Dynorbital Sanders. If you have tried these and they are not lasting as long as you think they should, try upgrading to the Dynabrade Dynorbital Supreme Sander above.
For small, tight spaces, the 3" Dynabrade Dynorbital Spirit Sander is the starting point. Lightweight, but still powerful enough to provide a great finish:
Naturally, Dynbrade sanders are also available in the spirit model for 3-1/2":
